The lyrics, oh God the lyrics

Previously, I've discussed how much I love Blue October's lyrics but I don't know if I can make it clear enough how powerful and touching the lyrics really are.

Perhaps one of my most favorite Blue songs is Weight of the World because it really lays out a lot of what I've gone through in my own life. Here are the lyrics:

Weight of the World
I black out in the room again
A busted lip and broken skin
I wake up in the bathroom
And dare not bother asking
Why the mirror's cracked and all I see
Are shards of glass inside of me
There's voices there to dare me
My father's here to scare me
My mother sits beyond the door
She's curled up, crying, on the floor
Look at what her son's done

Chorus:
When the weight of all the world's gone wrong
It's gone wrong again
Gone fucking wrong
It's gone wrong again

Well liars they leave a guilty trail
And let me tell you something, people
I've been lying for fucking years
That must be why I'm standing in this space
D-d-d-disregarding that I've created these monsters
They're on fucking both of my sides
So I wipe the blood from both of their eyes
From all four of their eyes
And while I wait for wounds to heal
I see you by the window sill
Your heart's torn out a plastic spoon
When honesty lit up that room
So I stole the pillowcase to clean
This mess I made of someone's dream
Now you see what I've done!

Chorus:
When the weight of all the world's gone wrong
It's gone wrong again
Gone fucking wrong
It's gone all wrong again

This room is old and wise
I fall onto the bed and wonder
"How did I get here?"
The little boy who'd argue with a tree
Just fucking thump his head!
He'll turn back to normal
Now why is that what I see?

Don't bother trusting
Don't bother waiting
Don't bother changing things
That won't give in to changing
Just let me go away
I'm packed, whenever
I'm down, whenever
Let's go

Those lyrics are just touching. Even if you don't relate to the specific circumstance you can just feel the emotion they put into their lyrics and music.

Why I love the band.

ed DocumentSo why do I love Blue October so much? I don't think I could count all the reasons...but I'll try.

1. First, I think that the band has some of the most meaningful lyrics I've ever heard. I can easily relate to much of what the various songs say. For instance:

"Cause I only want you to see My favorite part of me And not my ugly side" --Ugly Side

"Stand by for another breakdown Sound off the alarm Is this the chameleon boy I swore I wouldn't become?" --Chameleon Boy

"Your brain has faulty wiring, the reason for tiring Keep treating the curse, imagine the worst" --X Amount of Words

2. Second, their live show is amazing. They'll make you fall in love with songs you've heard a million times, all over again at every show. I've been to quite a few shows and nothing is more thrilling than a band who knows how to play their instruments and really puts on a show. Check out some live videos if you don't believe me.

3. Third, and finally for this list, I have never seen a band more willing to pose for pictures and sign autographs for their fans. They love to talk with the fans, at least the non-BSC ones, particularly when it's obvious that they're completely enjoying themselves. To me that's a mark of a great band. Not only do you play your instruments well but you realize that your fans are the reason why you have a job doing what you love to do. It's my opinion that bands that ignore or hate their fans are completely out of touch with reality.

So that's all for now, I'll be back again soon, but until then remember that the guys are on tour right now and you need to buy your tickets fast!!!

A little background....

I wanted to spread my love of all things Blue with the world so I thought I'd give a little background information about the band so as to demonstrate their awesomeness! :)

Based out of Texas the band is made up of C.B. Hudson III, Jeremy Furstenfeld, Justin Furstenfeld, Matt Noveskey, and Ryan Delahoussaye. They are a great group of guys who constantly sign autographs and pose for pictures with their fans. Their music is thoughtful and painfully honest and, because of those qualities, extremely relatable.

Currently Blue October has six albums out with another one on the way in March 2009. Of the six out now, two of those are live albums, and let me tell you, they are awesome. With many bands today live concerts are an issue filled with "secret" lip-synching or just plain terrible singing/playing due to their overproduced albums. Blue October, however, sounds almost exactly the same live as they do on their CDs. The instruments sound awesome and Justin Furstenfeld's voice rarely fails to impress.

Of all of Blue October's music probably the song that is most recognizable is "Hate Me". An angry and apologetic song fueled by the thought of failing one's family and friends amongst other themes. Furstenfeld, who writes most of the band's songs, has offered explanations for this song and others but often prefers to allow the fans to interpret on their own. If "Hate Me" is the only song you've ever heard by Blue, you should definitely check out more of their songs, I bet you'll like it!

That's all for now folks but if you'd like some more information here's a few sites to check out:

So I got tired cruising the internet to different sites to get my Blue fix so I decided to concentrate all of my insanity in one place. I don't expect to take the place of other Blue sites, just to add to the amount of information available on the web. If anyone has suggestions for future additions, feel free to tell me!

For now check out Blue October's newest music video, Dirt Room:
